No. 4 Seed Tiebreaker

Mt. St. Joseph lost to Carthage and Concordia defeated Trine on April 29,  which caused Mt. St. Joseph, Trine and Concordia to be tied for fourth at 3-4. The first tiebreaker would be composite record amongst the tied teams. This would not break the tie because all three teams were 1-1 against each other during the regular season. The next tiebreaker would be each team’s record against the first place team, followed by the remaining teams in the conference. Each team lost to Adrian, Carthage and North Central, and has defeated Fontbonne and Albion.

In order to break the tie, the next criteria will be goal-differential in conference games amongst the tied teams (this would be Concordia’s, Trine’s and Mt. St. Joseph’s goal-differential in each of its seven conference matches). An extra point shall be awarded for each goal a team wins by up to a maximum of three goals in games among tied teams (example: 4-1 is worth three points, 4-2 is worth two, 5-1 is worth three; if a team wins 20-7 for example, they would only be awarded three points).

Current Goal Differential (as of 4/29/12) – Note, all three teams were given an extra plus one for their forfeit wins against Albion.

Mt. St. Joseph (7 games) – minus 3
Concordia (7 games) – minus 5
Trine – (7 games) – minus 7

Mt. St. Joseph earns the No. 4 seed through the goal differential tiebreaker.
