WAUKESHA, WI - Augustana College opened the season with a split during the first week of its schedule. The Vikings (1-1, 0-0 MLC) posted a 17-3 win at Hendrix prior to a narrow 8-5 defeat at Albion Saturday.
Against Hendrix, 10 different Vikings found the back of the net. Sophomore Alexander Crescenti (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) led the way with three goals and one assist in the win. The sophomore added a goal and an assist in the loss to Albion.
Junior goalie Cody Burgdorff (Lafayette, Colo./Peak to Peak) was great in net for the Vikings during the week.
The junior had 16 saves and only two goals against for an 88.9% save percentage in the win at Hendrix to open the season. Burgdorff added 14 more saves and eight goals against in an 8-5 loss at Albion Saturday.
In just shy of 115 minutes of action this year, Burgdorff sports a 5.23 goals against average and a save percentage of .750.
Augustana will travel to Adrian College for a 12:00 PM start Saturday.

Concordia University (1-1, 0-0 MLC) notched its first win of the 2014 season, beating Dubuque 23-2 on Saturday. Sophomore attacker Marino Best (Nanaimo, British Columbia/Wellington) led the attack with four goals and four assists.
Hanover College (2-1, 0-0 MLC) finished the week with a split. The Panthers opened the week with a dominating 20-2 triumph at Bethany (WV) and closed with a 11-3 loss to Centre in the school's home opener. Junior attacker Nick Hermes (Grayslake, Ill./H.S.) scored five goals with two assists and five ground balls in the win over Bethany. Hermes added two goals in the loss to Centre.
