LISLE, Ill. - Midwest Women's
Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) administrators approved the addition of
Carroll University, Wartburg College, and Cornell College on
Wednesday.
All three schools will begin play in the spring of 2015.
Carroll University, is located in Waukesha, Wis., Cornell College
in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The
conference has been expanding each year and has added 11 new
members in the last two years.
Augustana, Aurora, Benedictine and Beloit entered the
conference in the spring of 2013 while the University of Dubuque,
and Loras College will begin play this spring.
Carroll is adding women's lacrosse for the 2014-15 season.
Cornell announced it would add women's lacrosse last spring and has
hired Lauren Martin to serve as the program's first head coach.
Wartburg will also field a team for the first time in 2015.
Danielle Fiala was named as the inaugural coach.
The Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference was founded in 2010
and competed in its inaugural season in the spring of 2011. The
conference is currently composed of 11 NCAA Division III colleges
and universities located throughout the Midwest. Membership for
2013 includes Augustana (Rock Island, Ill.), Aurora (Aurora, Ill.),
Beloit (Beloit, Wis.), Benedictine (Lisle, Ill.), Carthage
(Kenosha, Wis.), Concordia Wisconsin (Mequon, Wis.), Dubuque
(Dubuque, Iowa), Fontbonne (St. Louis, Mo.), Loras (Dubuque, Iowa),
Mount St. Joseph (Cincinnati, Ohio) and North Central (Naperville,
Ill.).
