MWLC Report (Week 3) - Beloit Slips Past Mount St. Joseph in MWLC Opener

WAUKESHA, WI - Beloit College opened the conference schedule with a narrow 17-14 win over Mount St. Joseph Saturday.  The Buccaneers (3-2, 1-0 MWLC) fell to Ohio Wesleyan and Otterbein in non-league play during the week.

Sophomore midfielder Libby Storrick (Coon Rapids, Minn./H.S.) led the Buccaneers against the Lions. The sophomore scored five goals with an assist in the conference win over Mount St. Joseph.  Storrick also netted four goals in a 15-6 setback to Ohio Wesleyan. 

Freshman goalie Marie Bonine (Stillwater, Minn./H.S.) tallied six saves with three ground balls against Mount St. Joseph.  In a 15-6 loss to Ohio Wesleyan, Bonine racked up a school-record 15 saves with four ground balls. 

Beloit will return to action against North Central Saturday afternoon.

In other action...

Mount St. Joseph (2-3, 1-2 MWLC) bounced back from the loss to Beloit to beat Benedictine (1-3, 0-2 MWLC) 11-7 in league play.  The Lions also scored a 22-8 home win over Wilmington in non-conference action.  Senior Chrissy O'Hara (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy) scored two goals with five assists against Wilmington and added two goals with two assists in the win over the Eagles. With her first goal against Benedictine, O'Hara became the first player in the Mount's program to reach 100 goals.

Concordia University (1-0, 1-0 MWLC) opened the season with a 22-5 league win over Benedictine.  The Falcons received five goals each from juniors Sammi Reiter (Stillwater, Minn./H.S.) and Stephanie Barry (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) against the Eagles.

Augustana College (4-0, 0-0 MWLC) remained perfect on the season with a 21-10 road win over Adrian. Junior attacker Hilary Kargl (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) continued her hot start, netting five goals with four assists in the win.  Kargl leads the MWLC in both goals (20) and assists (13) this spring.
