MWLC Report (Week 4) - Falcons Soar to 2-0 in MWLC Play

WAUKESHA, WI - Concordia University (Wis.) added another league win and finished the week with a 3-1 record overall.  The Falcons (4-1, 2-0 MWLC) posted a 20-4 win over Fontbonne in league play and earned wins over Augsburg and St. Mary's in non-conference action.  Concordia saw its perfect record end down in West Palm Beach, Florida after suffering a 16-11 defeat against Potsdam State.

Junior midfielder Sammi Reiter (Stillwater, Minn./H.S.) led the Falcons offense during the week.  Reiter totaled 11 goals with five assists, 21 ground balls, and 19 draw controls in the three victories.  Reiter added five goals with an assist in the loss to Potsdam State.

Freshman goalie Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill./H.S.) went 2-1 in net during the week, totaling 25 saves with 22 goals allowed. 

Concordia will face Palm Beach Atlantic in West Palm Beach, Florida this evening and will return home for a conference contest with Augustana Saturday at 4PM.

In other action...

Carthage (4-2, 2-0 MWLC) stayed perfect in conference action with a 22-3 win over Fontbonne (0-4, 0-2 MWLC) Saturday.  The Lady Reds also earned a 22-1 win over Illinois Tech and suffered a 23-7 setback at Redlands in non-conference play.

Loras (2-3, 1-0 MWLC) earned a win in its first league contest, defeating Dubuque (0-4, 0-1 MWLC) 11-7 Tuesday evening.  Sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Kutsch (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Catholic) continued her solid season with eight goals, five ground balls, and six draw controls in the win.

North Central (1-2, 1-0 MWLC) opened the season with a 16-8 win over Beloit (3-4, 1-1 MWLC) Saturday.  Freshman attacker Madison Maas (Burnsville, Minn./H.S.) led the Cardinals with four goals and an assist in the win over the Buccaneers.

Mount St. Joseph (4-4, 2-2 MWLC) finished the week with a 2-1 overall record including an 18-11 win over Aurora (1-4, 0-1 MWLC).  Senior attacker Chrissy O'Hara (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy) scored three goals with three assists and two ground balls against the Spartans and added three goals with five assists in an 18-3 win over Trine. 

Augustana (5-0, 0-0 MWLC) moved to 5-0 on the season following a 15-8 win over DePauw.  Junior attacker Hilary Kargl (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) scored four goals and added four assists to lead the Vikings.
