AURORA, IL – The Aurora University Athletic Department announced today the hiring of Christina Fried as the second head coach of the Spartan women's lacrosse program.

Fried comes to the program after serving as an assistant coach at Franklin & Marshall College for the past two seasons where they had a 33-11 record.

“We are thrilled that Christina has decided to take over our women’s lacrosse program and join the AU family,” said Aurora University Athletic Director Jim Hamad. “As a young program, we felt it was imperative to find a coach with collegiate coaching experience and Christine has been a part of multiple high-level college programs. We are confident that our women’s lacrosse program is going to flourish under her guidance because of her energy and experience.”

Fried graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and went on to earn her master’s degree in business administration from Frostburg State University in 2010. Prior to her time at Franklin & Marshall, she spent two seasons (2008-2010) at Frostburg State University as an assistant coach before moving to Kutztown University as an assistant coach for two seasons.

“I want to thank the Aurora University administration for selecting me to take the women's lacrosse program to the next level,” said Fried. “I am excited for the challenge ahead and look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion with the student-athletes at AU.  My goal is to recruit well rounded young women who want to succeed in the classroom, on the playing field and in the community.”

Collegiately, Fried was a member of the Lock Haven University women’s lacrosse team where she was a team captain in 2008, a Second-Team All-Conference selection and she appeared in two NCAA Division II Championships Semi-Final rounds.

Fried also served as the executive director of Lanco Elite Lacrosse Middle and High School Club Program for the past two years.

The AU women’s lacrosse team finished the 2014 season, the Spartans second season of play, with a 4-11 overall record, including a 3-7 mark within the Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference.

Aurora University is a member of the MWLC, which began its first season of competition in the spring of 2011. The MWLC consists of eight colleges and universities from the Midwest. Member schools include: Aurora University, Beloit College, Benedictine University, Concordia University Wisconsin, Cornell College, Illinois Institute of Technology, Loras College and Wartburg College.
