Hamline Selected As Preseason Favorite

MINNEAPOLIS— Hamline University has been selected to win the 2021 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference championship according to the preseason poll, voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Pipers received seven first-place votes and 49 total points in the preseason poll. Hamline has won the last two regular season championships, and the past three conference tournament championships. The three tournament titles is a league record.

Augsburg was second in the poll with 42 points, while Loras was third with the final first-place vote and 28 points.

Wartburg was fourth with 25 points, Cornell and Northwestern tied for fifth with 24 points, Monmouth was seventh with 18 points, and Beloit rounded out the poll with 14 points.

The MWLC's regular-season standings determine the teams that qualify for the four-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
