Kuwahara, Bialo Earn MWLC Weekly Awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Lake Forest College's Krissy Kuwahara received Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) offensive player of the week recognition, while Cornell College's Seanne Bialo earned league defensive player of the week, for events April 4-10, as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Kuwahara (Anaheim, Calif.) scored four times in Friday's 14-10 triumph at Northwestern in the first MWLC game in program history. The freshman midfielder's tally came six minutes into the contest. She also converted two free position shot attempts in the third quarter and one more in the fourth. Additionally, Kuwahara picked up three ground balls, had three caused turnovers, and five draw controls on the day.

Bialo (Anchorage, Alaska) broke Cornell's program season record for ground balls (66) and caused turnovers (35) in the two games on the week. The senior posted 12 ground balls, three caused turnovers, and 12 draw controls over the two contests. She had eight ground balls and three caused turnovers in the 18-2 win over Elmhurst Friday.

This is the third career MWLC weekly honor for Bialo. This is the second career honor for Kuwahara, but first offensive honor, as she was previously named defensive player of the week in the third week of this season.

The MWLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), and Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa).
