Hamline Falls to Capital in NCAA Tournament

CHICAGO, ILL.—Hamline University embarked on their fifth all-time NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship appearance on Saturday afternoon, when they faced Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member Capital in a first-round game at University of Chicago's Stagg Field. The Comets cruised to a 21-4 victory over the Pipers.

Capital improves to 20-0, and will advance to the second round against host University of Chicago tomorrow, Sunday May 15. Hamline ends their season with a 7-8 record.

Capital 21, Hamline 4

Both teams traded a goal over the opening five minutes of the game thanks to Molly Garin en route to a 1-1 score, before Capital rattled off 12 scores to give them enough cushion in a 21-4 victory.

Four of the Pipers' goals came from Molly GarinMaitland LuksanTaryn Leonard, and Tara DeLeo. Luksan and Analisa Aragon each picked up assists. Garin led the way with two caused turnovers, while Maria Lewis registered a team-leading three draw controls.

Capital outshot Hamline 35-8. Pipers goalie Justine Case made 11 saves, while Bee Kuehn stopped three shots in goal for the Comets.

The Pipers bid farewell to seniors Molly GarinSJ Welch, and Tara DeLeo.
