Leonard, Galazen earn MWLC weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Hamline University's Taryn Leonard and Augsburg University's Mackenzie Galazen were named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) offensive and defensive player of the week, respectively, for events Feb. 27-March 5, as selected by the league's head coaches.

Leonard (Cottage Grove, Minn.) scored five goals in the 17-3 win over UW-Stout Saturday. The senior midfielder added five caused turnovers, six ground balls, and seven draw controls in that contest.

Galazen (Kimball, Minn.) had six caused turnovers, nine ground balls, 12 draw controls, and added seven goals and one assist over three games this past week.

This is the first career MWLC honor for the duo.

The MWLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), Saint Benedict (St. Joseph, Minn.), and Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa).
