Augsburg sweeps MWLC weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Augsburg University's Mackenzie Galazen and the Auggies' Nicole Schuster were named the  Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) offensive and defensive player of the week, respectively, for events March 13-20, as selected by the league's head coaches.

Galazen (Kimball, Minn.) scored four goals on four shots on goal over two games last week for the Auggies. She added 12 ground balls, seven draw controls, and seven caused turnovers. Galazen was 2-3 on free position shots. She is tied for fourth in goals (11) and tied for eighth in points (12) among all MWLC players.

Schuster (Champlin, Minn.) played all 120 minutes in goal over two games last week for Augsburg. She made 35 saves, earned one win, and had a 55.6 save percentage. Schuster leads all MWLC players in saves (84), is tied for second in wins (2), and is fifth in save percentage (42.0).

This is the second career MWLC honor for Galazen, but first offensive award, as she was previously the defensive honoree on March 6. This is the first career honor for Schuster.

The MWLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Monmouth (Monmouth, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), Saint Benedict (St. Joseph, Minn.), and Wartburg (Waverly, Iowa).
