KatieJo Svenson named interim MLC, MWLC Commissioner

KatieJo Svenson named Assistant Commissioner/SID

MINNEAPOLIS-- The Midwest Lacrosse Conference and Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference announced that KatieJo Svenson (pronounced Swen-sin) has been named the interim commissioner for the 2024 season.

Svenson has served as the Assistant Commissioner/SID for the league the past three seasons, and will fill this interim role due to the resignation of Kelly Anderson Diercks, who previously served as the commissioner since May 2020.

Svenson also works as the Sports Information Director at Wartburg College. In her position, she oversees the media relations and statistics for 25 varsity teams. She was the SID when Wartburg added women's lacrosse in 2015 as the Knights previously competed in the MWLC.

Svenson is in her second stint at Wartburg, having previously worked as SID over the 2011-19 academic years. She spent the next three years as the SID at Bethany Lutheran College (2019-22) before returning to Wartburg in the same role in summer 2022.

MLC members for the upcoming 2024 season include Cornell College, the University of Dubuque, Lake Forest College, Northland College, and University of Northwestern, while MWLC members include Augsburg University, Cornell College, Hamline University, Lake Forest College, College of Saint Benedict, and University of Northwestern-St. Paul.

Both NCAA Division III member conferences, the MLC began play in 2010 while the MWLC started play in 2011.
