Lake Forest sweeps MLC women’s weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Lake Forest College's Ryleigh Nelson and Ali Graham have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) women's offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events March 4-10 as selected by the league's head coaches.

Nelson (Naperville, Ill.) scored 11 goals on 19 shots on goal and added 17 assists, seven ground balls, three caused turnovers and one draw control over the 3-0 week for the Foresters. Lake Forest defeated Edgewood 19-3 Monday, Elmhurst 19-2 Wednesday, and Illinois Tech 22-10 Saturday.

Graham (New York, N.Y.) had nine caused turnovers, nine ground balls, and 17 draw controls over the three games on the week. She added six goals and five assists.

This is Graham's second defensive career MLC honor, and first for Nelson. 

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), and Saint Benedict (St. Joseph, Minn.).
