Nelson, Lewis earn MLC women’s weekly awards

MINNEAPOLIS— Lake Forest College's Ryleigh Nelson and the College of Saint Benedict's Chloe Lewis have been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) women's offensive and defensive players of the week respectively, for events April 1-7 as selected by the league's head coaches.

Nelson (Naperville, Ill.) had seven goals and 10 assists over the two wins on the week for the Foresters. In the MLC contest against Augsburg, she tallied five of those goals and five assists. Among all league players, she is first in assists and points and tied for first in goals in conference contests. 

Lewis (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) played all 60 minutes in net in Saturday's conference opener over Northwestern-St. Paul. She made 12 saves and had a 63.2 save percentage in the contest. In MLC contests, she leads all players in save percentage, is second in goals allowed, and third in saves. 

This is the first career MLC honor for Lewis and second for Nelson.

The MLC is comprised of NCAA Division III institutions located throughout the Midwest including Augsburg (Minneapolis), Cornell (Mt. Vernon, Iowa), Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.), Lake Forest (Lake Forest, Ill.), Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.), and Saint Benedict (St. Joseph, Minn.).
