Carthage College freshman goalie Ryan Smith (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) led the Red Men to an impressive 12-10 road win over Centre College Sunday and has been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week on defense.
The freshman had 15 saves and 10 goals against for a 60% save percentage in the win, becoming the first visiting goalie to pick up a win at Centre since the 2011 season.
The Colonels offense ranked sixth in scoring offense nationally last spring.
Carthage (2-1, 0-0 MLC) will open the MLC schedule at MSOE at 1:00 PM Saturday.
